Description

These elegant Blackberry Brie Pinwheels are a delicious blend of sweet blackberry jam, creamy brie, and buttery puff pastry. Perfect as an appetizer or a sophisticated snack, they’re simple to make yet look impressively gourmet.

Ingredients

Scale

Essential Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, defrosted
  • 1/2 cup blackberry jam
  • 1/2 cup brie cheese, rind removed and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans

For Egg Wash:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

Optional Add-Ons:

  • Honey, for drizzling
  • Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the defrosted puff pastry on a floured surface or parchment paper into a 10×10-inch square.
  2. Spread the Jam: Evenly spread the blackberry jam over the pastry, leaving a 1/2 to 1-inch border.
  3. Add the Cheese and Nuts: Sprinkle cubed brie and chopped pecans evenly on top of the jam.
  4. Roll the Pastry: Starting from one short edge, tightly roll the puff pastry into a log. Tuck in any filling as needed.
  5. Chill the Log: Wrap the log in parchment and chill in the freezer for 10 minutes to firm it up.
  6. Preheat Oven: While the pastry chills, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Slice the Log: Cut the chilled log into 3/4-inch slices using a sharp knife.
  8. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the slices on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  9. Brush with Egg Wash: Mix egg and water, then brush the tops and sides of each pinwheel (optional).
  10. Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden and bubbling.
  11. Cool and Garnish: Let pinwheels cool for 5–10 minutes. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle fresh thyme if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Brie should be cold for easier slicing and cleaner cubes.
  • For extra flavor, substitute blackberry jam with fig or raspberry preserves.
  • These are best enjoyed warm, straight from the oven.
