Ingredients
Scale
Essential Ingredients:
- 1/2 pint fresh blackberries (about 1 cup)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (or substitute honey, agave, or alternative sweetener)
- 8 bags Earl Grey tea (or 4 tablespoons loose-leaf Earl Grey tea)
- 5 cups water
- 1/2 cup half-and-half (or whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, etc.)
- 5 cups ice
Optional Add-Ons:
- Mint leaves for garnish and added freshness
- Lemon slices to brighten the flavor
- Flavored syrups like vanilla or lavender for an extra twist
Instructions
- Make the blackberry syrup: In a saucepan, combine blackberries, sugar, and 1/2 cup of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5–7 minutes, mashing the berries as they cook. Strain through a fine mesh sieve and discard solids. Let syrup cool.
- Brew the tea: Boil 4.5 cups of water and steep the Earl Grey tea bags for 5–7 minutes, depending on desired strength. Remove tea bags and let the tea cool to room temperature, then chill in the fridge.
- Assemble the latte: In a large pitcher or individual glasses, combine blackberry syrup with chilled tea. Stir well.
- Add creaminess: Pour in the half-and-half or milk of choice. Stir gently to combine or leave slightly swirled for a marbled look.
- Serve: Fill glasses with ice, pour the latte over, and garnish with mint leaves or lemon slices if desired.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of blackberry syrup to control sweetness and berry flavor.
- For a dairy-free version, use oat milk, almond milk, or coconut milk.
- This latte can be stored in the fridge (without ice) for up to 2 days.
