Description
Blueberry Milk Tea is a vibrant and flavorful twist on classic bubble tea. Made with real blueberry jam, fragrant jasmine green tea, and naturally blue butterfly pea flowers, this drink is both beautiful and delicious. It’s creamy, fruity, slightly floral, and refreshingly unique.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup blueberries – Fresh or frozen, these create a naturally sweet jam base.
- ½ cup white sugar – Sweetens the blueberry jam.
- ¾ cup milk – Whole, oat, or almond milk all work for a creamy finish.
- 6–10 butterfly pea flowers – Adds a vibrant blue hue and mild floral note.
- 1 tbsp jasmine green tea – Provides a light, aromatic base flavor.
- ¾ cup hot water – Used for steeping the tea and flowers.
- 3 tbsp cooked brown sugar boba pearls – For a chewy, caramel-like texture and sweetness.
Optional Add-Ons:
- Ice cubes – To chill the drink and make it more refreshing.
- Whipped cream – For a creamy dessert-like topping.
- Extra fruity flavors – Add passion fruit, mango, or lychee for a tropical twist.
Instructions
- Make blueberry jam: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine blueberries and white sugar. Cook for 8–10 minutes until the blueberries break down and form a thick, jam-like consistency. Stir occasionally, then remove from heat and let cool.
- Steep the tea and butterfly pea flowers: In a mug, pour ¾ cup hot water over the jasmine green tea and butterfly pea flowers. Steep for 5–7 minutes, then strain and let the tea cool slightly.
- Assemble the drink: Add the cooked boba pearls to the bottom of a glass. Spoon 1–2 tablespoons of the blueberry jam over the boba.
- Combine and mix: Add ice if using, then pour in the steeped tea and top with your milk of choice. Stir gently to swirl the layers together, or leave it layered for a dramatic effect.
- Top it off: Optional – add whipped cream and extra toppings for a fun finish. Serve with a wide straw and enjoy!
Notes
- You can make the blueberry jam ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 5 days.
- Adjust the sweetness by using less sugar or swapping for honey or maple syrup.
- Try adding vanilla extract or a pinch of salt to the jam for extra depth of flavor.
