  • Author: Sarah Mendez

Description

These broiled green beans are crisp, flavorful, and incredibly easy to prepare. Tossed in olive oil and seasoned simply, they broil to perfection in minutes. Optional crunchy toppings like panko and almonds elevate this side dish to something truly special.

Ingredients

Scale

Essential Ingredients:

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Optional Add-Ons:

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey or hot honey
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat broiler on high and position rack about 6 inches from heat source. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment for easy cleanup.
  2. In a bowl, toss green beans with olive oil, salt, and pepper until well coated.
  3. Spread the beans out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Broil for 6–8 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the beans are tender and slightly charred.
  5. If using optional toppings, while beans are broiling, mix panko, sliced almonds, garlic powder, and salt with olive oil in a small bowl.
  6. Sprinkle topping over the broiled beans and broil for 1–2 more minutes until golden and crunchy.
  7. Finish with a drizzle of lemon juice or honey if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For even cooking, make sure green beans are in a single layer without overlapping.
  • Customize flavor with red pepper flakes, Parmesan, or a splash of balsamic vinegar.
  • Use hot honey for a sweet and spicy finish.
