Description
A simple and comforting oven-baked chicken dish featuring a delicious combination of brown sugar and garlic.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5–2 pounds total) — trimmed of excess fat and patted dry
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- A pinch of salt (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, or rosemary) for garnish (optional)
- Lemon wedges for serving (optional)
- Vegetables to roast alongside (e.g., baby potatoes, carrots, or green beans) (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, garlic powder, and black pepper. If using optional add-ons, whisk them in.
- Coat chicken breasts with the brown sugar mixture and arrange in a baking dish.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, checking for an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Remove chicken, tent with foil, and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Patting the chicken dry before coating helps the glaze adhere. Using a meat thermometer ensures the chicken isn’t overcooked.
