Description

This Cheddar Bay Ground Beef Cobbler is the ultimate comfort food mash-up. It combines seasoned ground beef, creamy soup, gooey cheddar cheese, and a golden Cheddar Bay biscuit topping for a savory, satisfying meal that’s perfect for weeknights or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Essential Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs lean ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 can condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 box Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix
  • 2 cups milk
  • ¼ cup butter, melted

Optional Add-Ons:

  • 1 cup frozen vegetables (peas, corn, or chopped bell peppers)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Alternative proteins: ground turkey or cooked chicken

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in soups: Add the condensed cheddar soup and cream of mushroom soup to the beef. Stir until fully combined. If using, mix in frozen vegetables and spices now. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Layer in baking dish: Transfer the beef mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of cheddar cheese on top.
  5. Make biscuit topping: In a large bowl, mix the Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix with 2 cups of milk and the seasoning packet (included in the box). Pour over the beef layer.
  6. Top and bake: Drizzle melted butter over the biscuit topping and sprinkle with remaining 1 cup of cheese.
  7. Bake: Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes or until the biscuit topping is golden and cooked through.
  8. Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheddar for best melt and flavor.
  • Add hot sauce or red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Can be prepped in advance and baked when ready.
