Ingredients
Scale
Essential Ingredients:
- 10 ounces rigatoni pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cups milk (whole or half-and-half)
- 1 cup provolone cheese, diced or shredded
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Optional Add-Ons:
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Red pepper flakes (to taste)
- Additional cheese (e.g., mozzarella or cheddar)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Boil rigatoni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté the veggies: In a large skillet, cook mushrooms, bell pepper, and onion over medium heat until softened. If using, add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Brown the beef: Add ground beef to the skillet with the veggies. Cook until fully browned. Drain any excess grease.
- Make the sauce: Reduce heat to low. Stir in the milk and bring to a gentle simmer. Add provolone cheese, stirring until melted and smooth. If using, add Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes.
- Combine: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat everything in the cheesy sauce.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- For a richer sauce, use half-and-half instead of milk.
- Feel free to use thinly sliced steak instead of ground beef for a more authentic cheesesteak vibe.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated with a splash of milk.
