Description

A healthy, crunchy snack of air-fried tofu sticks with a sweet-savory honey mustard dip, perfect for beginners.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz extra-firm tofu
  • 6 tablespoons vegan honey mustard sauce, divided
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil spray (grapeseed, light olive oil, or avocado oil)
  • Nutritional yeast (optional)
  • Smoked paprika (optional)
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Lemon zest (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (optional)
  • Sliced veggies (optional)

Instructions

  1. Drain the tofu and press between towels for 10-20 minutes.
  2. Slice tofu into 1/4-inch thick strips.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Air-fry tofu strips for 8-10 minutes to dry them.
  5. Mix 3 tablespoons of vegan honey mustard, cornstarch, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  6. Set up a coating station with panko breadcrumbs.
  7. Dip tofu strips in the honey mustard mixture and coat with panko.
  8. Air-fry coated tofu sticks for 8-10 minutes, then spray again and cook for another 1-3 minutes until golden.
  9. Serve with remaining honey mustard sauce and optional toppings.

Notes

Pressing tofu improves crisping. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.
