- 2 lbs beef sirloin, chuck roast, or stew meat, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari (for gluten-free)
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Optional Add-Ons:
- 1 lb baby potatoes, halved
- 1 cup baby carrots
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 medium onion, chopped
Instructions
- Season beef with salt and pepper and place in the crockpot.
- In a medium bowl, mix beef broth, soy sauce or tamari, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, tomato paste, garlic, smoked paprika, onion powder, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Pour the sauce mixture over the beef in the crockpot.
- Add optional vegetables like potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, and onion if desired.
- Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or on high for 3–4 hours until beef is tender.
- Stir before serving. Serve warm with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread.
Notes
- Use tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
- Browning the beef before adding to the crockpot adds extra flavor but is optional.
- Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of brown sugar.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
