Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • Grated parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Spread the uncooked spaghetti evenly in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  3. Add olive oil, minced garlic, diced onion, Italian seasoning, and salt; toss to coat.
  4. Sprinkle the diced green bell pepper over the pasta, then add canned tomatoes, water, marinara sauce, and fresh basil; toss again.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake uncovered for 40 minutes.
  6. After 40 minutes, gently toss the spaghetti and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let it rest for a few minutes, then garnish with additional basil and serve with grated parmesan cheese.
