- 1 pound spaghetti
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 3 cups water
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (plus more for garnish)
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- Grated parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Spread the uncooked spaghetti evenly in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
- Add olive oil, minced garlic, diced onion, Italian seasoning, and salt; toss to coat.
- Sprinkle the diced green bell pepper over the pasta, then add canned tomatoes, water, marinara sauce, and fresh basil; toss again.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake uncovered for 40 minutes.
- After 40 minutes, gently toss the spaghetti and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let it rest for a few minutes, then garnish with additional basil and serve with grated parmesan cheese.
Notes
You can customize the dish by adding vegetables, proteins, or using gluten-free pasta. Prep your ingredients ahead of time for a smoother cooking process.
