Description
A forgiving and easy version of the classic German Chocolate Pecan Pie, combining toasted pecans, coconut, and a rich chocolate crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups pecan halves (toasted)
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 3/4 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9’x13′ baking pan with foil and grease it.
- Toast the pecan halves for 8–10 minutes until nutty and aromatic.
- In a bowl, mix flour, confectioners’ sugar, and cocoa powder, then cut in the cold butter until crumbly. Press into the prepared pan.
- Bake the crust for 15 minutes. After removing, sprinkle melted chocolate chips over the hot crust and let it sit.
- Mix together eggs, brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, and toasted pecans, then add to the chocolate layer.
- Bake for 28–34 minutes until set. Cool at room temperature, then chill for at least one hour before slicing.
- Slice into squares and serve. Enjoy with or without vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Letting the bars cool completely and chilling improves the texture. Ensure to toast nuts for better flavor.
