Description

Delicious Greek meatballs filled with creamy feta cheese, paired with a refreshing tzatziki sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Cooking Spray
  • 1 Slice White Bread (Torn into 1-inch pieces, about 1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 Cup Milk
  • 1 Egg (Beaten)
  • 1/4 Cup Red Onion (Finely Chopped)
  • 1 Garlic Clove (Minced)
  • 2 Teaspoons Oregano
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Pound Ground Beef
  • 1 Cup Crumbled Feta Cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare a baking sheet by spraying a wire rack with cooking spray and placing it over the sheet.
  3. In a large bowl, combine torn bread and milk; let it sit for one minute.
  4. Add beaten egg, red onion, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and a quarter of the ground beef; mix until combined.
  5. Gently add remaining ground beef; mix until no raw meat is visible.
  6. Divide mixture into 12 portions and form into balls, placing feta cheese in the center of each ball.
  7. Place meatballs on the wire rack and bake for 15-20 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  8. To make tzatziki, grate cucumbers, wring out moisture, and mix with yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, chopped mint, and salt.
  9. Serve meatballs hot with tzatziki on the side.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken. Ensure cucumbers are well-drained for tzatziki.
