- Black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 tsp olive oil

- 1 cup coconut milk or heavy cream

Instructions
- Sauté Onion: Heat olive oil in a large pot over low heat. Add chopped onion and cook for about 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
- Add Garlic: Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add Spices: Sprinkle in ground ginger, cinnamon, and salt. Stir and cook for 30 seconds to release their aroma.
- Stir in Pumpkin: Add pumpkin puree and stir until well combined with the spices and onion mixture.
- Add Broth: Gradually pour in the broth while stirring to ensure a smooth consistency.
- Simmer: Bring to a gentle simmer and cook uncovered for 10–15 minutes to blend flavors.
- Add Cream (Optional): Stir in coconut milk or heavy cream and simmer for 2–3 more minutes until warmed through.
- Season: Add black pepper and adjust salt to taste.
- Serve: Ladle into bowls and garnish with fresh herbs or a swirl of cream, if desired.
Notes
- Substitute pumpkin puree with sweet potato or butternut squash puree.
- No fresh garlic? Use 1/2 tsp garlic powder.
- Fresh ginger preferred, but ground ginger works well too.
- Use dried herbs if fresh aren’t available for garnish.
