Description

Juicy Turkey Burgers with Balsamic Caramelized Onions and Provolone are a mouthwatering twist on a classic. Lean ground turkey is seasoned and grilled to perfection, then topped with sweet, tangy caramelized onions and melty provolone cheese. Ideal for weeknight dinners or summer grilling.

Ingredients

Scale
    • 1 lb ground turkey: The lean yet juicy base for your burger patties.
    • 1 onion, thinly sliced: Slowly cooked to caramelized perfection.
    • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar: Adds depth and tangy sweetness to the onions.
    • 4 slices provolone cheese: Melts beautifully over hot burgers for a creamy, savory finish.
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil: Used to sauté the onions and prevent sticking.
    • Salt and pepper to taste: Essential for seasoning the turkey and enhancing the overall flavor.

  • Optional Add-Ons:
  • Burger buns: Choose classic, whole grain, or even lettuce wraps for a low-carb version.
  • Lettuce and tomato: Add freshness, crunch, and color.
  • Other toppings: Sliced pickles, avocado, or your favorite condiments like mustard, mayo, or aioli.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the onions: In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sliced onions. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and golden brown, about 15–20 minutes. Stir in balsamic vinegar and cook another 2–3 minutes until well coated. Set aside.
  2. Form the patties: Season ground turkey with salt and pepper. Form into 4 equal patties.
  3. Cook the burgers: Heat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5–6 minutes per side or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  4. Add cheese: Place provolone slices on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover with a lid to melt.
  5. Assemble the burgers: Layer the bottom bun (or lettuce wrap) with lettuce and tomato, then add the turkey burger, caramelized onions, and any other desired toppings.

Notes

  • For extra juicy burgers, avoid over-mixing the ground turkey.
  • You can make the caramelized onions in advance and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Provolone can be swapped for Swiss or mozzarella depending on preference.
