  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

For Glazing:

  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together self-rising flour, orange zest, and cinnamon (if using). Add brown sugar if desired.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix orange juice, plant-based milk, olive oil, and vanilla extract (if using).
  4. Pour wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead. Shape into a 1-inch thick round disc.
  6. Cut into 8 triangles and transfer to the baking sheet, leaving space between each scone.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until lightly golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. While scones are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking orange juice, orange zest, and icing sugar until smooth.
  9. Allow scones to cool slightly, then drizzle with glaze before serving.
