Description
This Pastry Nutella Wreath is a warm, chocolatey treat that looks impressive but is easy to make, perfect for a cozy breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet of ready-roll puff pastry (thawed if frozen; usually about 250–275g)
- 3–4 tablespoons Nutella or another chocolate-hazelnut spread
- 1 small egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tsp water (to thin the egg for the egg wash)
- Icing sugar (for dusting before serving)
- Chopped hazelnuts or almonds (optional)
- Sliced bananas or strawberries (optional)
- A light sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa powder (optional)
- A few teaspoons of jam (optional)
- Powdered sugar glaze (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan) and line a baking sheet.
- Thaw puff pastry in the refrigerator if frozen, or let sit at room temperature until pliable.
- Roll out the sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8-inch thick.
- Warm Nutella until spreadable and spread evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
- Fold the pastry for extra flakiness (optional) and cut off excess edges.
- Cut a hole in the center of the pastry (if folded) and then slice the pastry into 12–16 equal strips.
- Twist each strip away from you and tuck the ends under to form the wreath shape.
- Beat egg with water and brush over the wreath for a glossy finish.
- Bake for 20 minutes, cover loosely with foil, and bake for another 30 minutes, checking for doneness.
- Cool for 10–15 minutes, dust with icing sugar, and serve.
Notes
Customize the wreath with nuts, fruits, or different spreads, and be mindful not to overfill with Nutella.
