- 1 package Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup chocolate ganache (optional)
- Extra crushed Oreos (optional)
- Mini chocolate chips or chocolate shavings (optional)
- Chopped nuts (optional)
- Fresh strawberries or raspberries (optional)
- Sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- Prep and chill your equipment by placing a mixing bowl and beaters in the fridge for 10–15 minutes.
- Crush the Oreo cookies in a food processor until mostly fine, or use a zip-top bag and a rolling pin.
- Make the Oreo crust by mixing Oreo crumbs with melted butter and pressing into a springform pan.
- Chill the crust in the fridge for 15-30 minutes to firm up.
- Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Beat the cream cheese in a separate bowl until smooth and free of lumps.
- Fold a third of the whipped cream into the cream cheese to loosen the mixture, then gently fold in the remaining whipped cream.
- Optionally, add crushed Oreos into the mousse for added texture.
- Build the cake by adding half the mousse onto the crust and smoothing it out.
- Top the mousse layer with the remaining mousse and smooth the top.
- Chill the assembled cake for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Garnish the cake with chocolate ganache and optional toppings before serving.
- Slice and serve chilled for a delicious treat.
Notes
For best results, chill the mousse cake overnight to allow the flavors to meld and the mousse to set properly.
